Devices & diagnostics more freedom than you think.

The EU veterinary route for medtech & biotech founders

Every few months, a MedTech founder hits the same wall: the technology is validated, but the human regulatory path is a multi-year climb before a single sale. Then someone raises the veterinary market and the reflex is to picture the same gauntlet, scaled down.
The regulatory reality is the opposite of what most founders expect, and it changes the maths on where to prove your product first.

In Episode 2, Caroline Chauché, Jean-Luc Troch and Vanessa Bensoussan explain why veterinary devices and diagnostics sit outside human MDR and IVDR. No CE marking, no notified body to clear. This apparent freedom comes with a catch. The real gatekeepers shift from regulators to reference labs, distributors, and KOLs. Handled with the right rigour, a validated device can reach commercial proof faster in Europe’s veterinary market than on the human pathway.
